Yesterday, on July 6th, the IKF Beach Korfball World Cup (BKWC) (Europe) 2019 has started in Bonson, France. The day was kicked off with a referee’s and manager’s meeting, after which we started with the first matches at 12:00 o’clock. The seniors played the majority of their preliminary matches and the U19 teams played all of them.
Today we continue and end the tournament. The remaining four preliminary matches for the seniors are going to be played, followed by the semifinals and finals. The U19 teams have been divided into two pools. After these matches, they will continue with the semifinals and the finals.
The Federation Korfbal France (FKF) will host the IKF Beach Korfball World Cup (Europe) 2019 in cooperation with the city of Bonson. The event will be open to both seniors and U19, just like the last edition of this event. The event will take place on 6-7 July in Bonson, France.
At the senior’s tournament, of every country 1 team will participate (as long as there are no withdrawals). At the U19’s tournament countries had the possibility to participate with 2 teams to increase the number of participating teams in this age category. The Netherlands is the only country who took this opportunity and will participate with 2 teams in France. Because of the withdrawals of the Welsh U19 and Hungarian U19 team, a second U19 team from Belgium and France will participate. The second French team participates out of competition.
With just over 2 weeks to go, the match schedule for the IKF Beach Korfball World Cup (BKWC) (Europe) 2019 is known. Because of the unfortunate withdrawal of the Wales U19 team, a second U19 team from Belgium will participate in Bonson, France.
On day 1, the majority of the preliminary matches for the seniors are played. The last match for each team is played on Sunday, July 7th. After the preliminary round, the teams will be divided into those who will be playing for place 5-8 and those who will be played for place 1-4. The semifinals and finals will all be played on Sunday, July 7th.
In the U19 category, all preliminary matches will be played on Saturday, July 6th, after which they will be divided into 2 pools. Pool A consist of the numbers 1, 3 and 5 of the preliminary round and pool B of the numbers 2, 4 and 6. These matches, together with the semifinals and the finals, are played on Sunday, July 7th.
